The importance of knowing English in the Digital Age: your passport to the future

We live in the Digital Age, a historic moment where everything - but EVERYTHING - happens at breakneck speed. TikTok, Twitch, Instagram, YouTube... you're just a click away from anywhere in the world. But have you ever stopped to think about what language dominates all these digital spaces? Spoiler: English.

Why is English key for your generation?

It's not just about getting good grades or being understood on your next holiday. These days, knowing English connects you to the world. Literally.

- 80% of online content is in English. Can you imagine all the things you're missing out on because you're not fluent in English? Videos, blogs, memes, tutorials... The knowledge you need (and the knowledge you didn't even know you wanted) is in English.

- Gamers, beware!: the top video games come out earlier or only in English. Also, the most active communities are there. If you play online, you know what I'm talking about.

- Music, movies, series... and without subtitles. Because let's face it, who doesn't mind missing jokes because of a bad translation?

- Are you familiar with the term ‘digital nomad’? It's the profession of many young people who work from anywhere in the world thanks to English. And we're not talking about the future, but the present.

English = Digital freedom

Knowing English is a tool of freedom, because it allows you to choose: what to consume, who to connect with, what opportunities to access and how to build your own path. It's as if you have a superpower to hack the digital world and move through it with ease.

How to start improving your English without it being boring?

Here are some practical tips that really work:

- Change the language of your networks. Yes, it sounds simple, but it's super effective. It forces you to think in English without even realising it.

- Follow English-speaking creators. There are a lot of great youtubers, influencers and streamers who teach without seeming to.

- Listen to music in English and look up the lyrics. Make every song a mini lesson.

- Watch your favourite series in OV. Start with English subtitles and then try without them.

- Speak, even if you're embarrassed. This is where the ultimate trick comes in...

Live English, don't study it

It's one thing to ‘learn English’ and quite another to live English. And that's where our courses abroad come in;)
Can you imagine studying in Oxford or Cambridge, two of the most prestigious university cities on the planet, while making friends from other countries and exploring a new world with monitors who are there to guide you? It's not just a language experience. It's a life experience.

You learn English while sipping a frappé in a coffee shop with centuries of history, participating in amazing activities and immersing yourself in a culture that breathes English. And the best thing: you are not alone, because you are accompanied by a group of boys and girls of your age and a monitor who supports you in everything.

In short...

In the Digital Age, English is not optional, it is essential. It is the language of opportunity, of entertainment without borders, of the jobs of the future and of the connections that really matter.

Do yourself a favour: don't see it as just another subject, but as your master key to open every door. And if you can live it for real, whether at home or in a city like Oxford or Cambridge, so much the better.

Are you ready to take the plunge? Your future is waiting for you... and it speaks English ;)
